FUTURE SPAWN
The first of two appearance of Spawn in Series 3 other than Al Simmons and Medieval Spawn. There are a total of 3 versions.
Future Spawn is the very first box set in the Spawn Figures Universe. This very cheap market-stall looking figure is how McFarlane Toys interpret Spawn in the future - that as he evolved over the centuries, he would discard both arms and legs for cybernetic equipment. Unfortunately, after centuries of evolution, he decides to keep that ugly head, no accounting for taste, I guess. Well, one thing is for sure, I kept the canopy down.
December 1995 Series 3 Boxset Original: Future Spawn
The original has red-trimmed and a green visor. Although constantly shown as part of Series 3, this figure was never part of the original assortment and was instead shipped separately. (cf End Cap February 1997)
Interestingly enough, it was mentioned that this Future Spawn would feature in the Spawn/Wildcats crossover and it will be his first appearance in any comic book. (cf End Cap December 1995)
Well, here he is, the Future Spawn for the Spawn/Wildcats mini-series - Ipissimus the Spawn.
November 1995 MTCC Exclusive Series 3 Boxset Repaint: Future Spawn
Repainted black with a clear visor and released in November 1995. Image of card from Jin 119kg's collection.
June 2000 MTCC Exclusive: Future Spawn
This MTCC exclusive of Future Spawn was released in February 2000, 5 years after the original; extraordinary considering that it was never popular to begin with but I am not going to sweat the small stuff, I mean this is after all a gift.
