There are currently two editions of She-Spawn. She-Spawn 1 consists of three versions and She-Spawn 2 has two.
SHE-SPAWN 1
Series 4 in January 1996 marks the first appearance of a female Spawn, simply known as She-Spawn, eh, would there be a He-Spawn?
Tomart's Action Figure Digest gives us a sneak preview of She-Spawn on its cover in November 1995 and it was a lovely picture, even the hair was thicker.
Instead of the usual scantily clad female comic characters, the January 1996 She-Spawn 1 is attired rather decently except for the rather racy bra :) rather madonnanesque...
There are TWO official versions of the original She-Spawn 1: one in blue paint on the mask and bodysuit (left of pic) and the other in white.
January 1996 Series 4 Original: She-Spawn
The white original version is the first and more common version. The 'End Cap' in Spawn's January 1997 refers to her - "first version had a red face-mask...". The description is to differentiate her from the repaint version which has a black face-mask. It does not refer to the two original versions which in this case, she is red mask with white-face as compared to the second version of blue-face.
Variants
Unintentional errors include black/grey missile launcher instead of the usual brown/tan colour.
I took this pic immediately after releasing her from her cage and check out the smudge on her cheek. QC is really hit and run then.
January 1996 Diamond Exclusive: She-Spawn
The red mask with blue-face is distributed through Diamonds Distribution. She is supposed to be the less common version but it is really a matter of logistics because over my part of the world, she is the more common version.
May 1996 Series 4 Repaint: She-Spawn
The repaint has a black body, black suit and black mask. Her launcher is also now repainted black.
The repaint version is decked out in black. Among the three versions, this is definitely the less common version, so do be careful when dealing with an internet seller. I heard of arguments over definition of "all-black" from fellow buyers who received the wrong figure. The original and variant is pink body wearing black suit while the repaint is in black body wearing black suit.
Also, while the original on the left pic has straight and tightly woven hair, the repaint figure has a more luscious and flowing hair.
The first female Spawn to appear in comics is Caleb the Pirate Spawn. Juzo Tokoro is obviously inspired by She-Spawn 1 in his b/w recreation. The manga version of Spawn was published back in 1999 (or is it 1998?) in Japanese and reprinted in English between 2005 and 2006 as Shadows of Spawn.
The second female Spawn in comics comes after the release of She-Spawn 2 (see below). She can be found under Spawn #119 published August 2002. You may not remember her as part of the Spawn convention but you would surely remember the other member in the party - Gunslinger Spawn.
SHE-SPAWN 2
She-Spawn gets an upgrade in Series 21 (February 2002) follow by a repaint under Reborn Series 2 (June 2004). The image above and following four images (2 to 5) are copied from sculptorscorner.com.

February 2002 Series 21 Original: She-Spawn 2
Part of the all-spawn lineup of Series 21, this upgrade of She-Spawn 1 is now attired in black. The card image is from Jin 119kg's Collection.
I like this particular image of She-Spawn, especially the cluttered part on the background, it gives a very gritty atmosphere. The image is courtesy of "ocelot" from spawn.com.
June 2004 Reborn Series 2: She-Spawn 2
She-Spawn 2 repainted in red and released under Reborn Series 2. Her hair grew longer and follow the colour scheme, turning her into a brunette. Gosh, I know the photography sucks, I would get a better pic of her someday.
SHE-SPAWN: COMIC VERSIONS!
Female spawns started to appear freely after the release of She-Spawn 2, the most prominent of which is obviously Nyx.
Nyx the She-Spawn
The comics world (english-speaking part that is) finally got their own "Caleb" in October 2004 when Nyx the witch "borrowed" Al Simmons' Hellspawn power in Spawn #139 and for a short period achieved She-Spawn status.
With that barbie-like blonde hair, it would be nice to have a She-Spawn 3 along the Art of Spawn line.
There is also the permed hair variant :) of Nyx. The image is from spawn.com of Nyx as the cover girl for Spawn #141.
In November 2007, Nyx appeared as a guest-star in Bomb Queen IV #3, this time she needn't borrowed it surreptitiously from Al Simmons' Spawn, she got a piece of the cape that helps her to transform whenever she needs it.
The suit left Al Simmons and took over Nyx in Spawn #182 (September 2008). Nyx the She-Spawn lasted only one issue as the Spawn suit jump from Nyx to Morana without so much as a cat-fight.
Kumiko the She-Spawn
Other female spawns include this legionnaire (Mitch estimated that there are 6,000 in this legion) which I presume to be Kumiko although those sharp bat-wings said otherwise. She appeared in Spawn #153 of February 2006.
The Kitamura's family of grandfather Hiroshi and granddaughter Kumiko, summoned by Christopher to aid Simmons. See Spawn #154 March 2006.
And the transformation of Kumiko.
Kumiko was one of only seven spawns that survived the armaggeddon but she would eventually succumb to another She-Spawn in Spawn #184 October 2008.
Morana the She-Spawn
The most powerful is the daughter of Al and Wanda - Morana, seen here in Spawn #183 September 2008.
She was "captured" in an anti-climax of a conclusion in Spawn #184 October 2008.
Looking forward to a Spawn Series of all female Spawns: Nyx in three editions, Hiroshi in two editions, Caleb and Morana.
