SPAWN i095

There are four official versions of Spawn i095, the figure also known as Spawn 8.

February 2004 Series 25: Spawn i95
He was originally released as Spawn i095 but the official website acknowledges that “this is Spawn 8, the eight numbered Spawn figure we’ve created and a classic image from Spawn issue 95”.

Spawn i095 is based on the cover of Spawn Monthly Series Issue #95 “Crack in the Foundation” drawn by Greg Capullo and published in May 2000. It was introduced under Series 25: The Classic Comic Cover II in late February 2004 as Spawn i.95.

Spawn i095 stood slightly above 7” and with its pointy cape, easily clear 8.5”. As with most Spawn figures, the cape is fabulously sculpted. His stance originates from his preparation for battle with Urizen.

We know that there are murmurs out there that this is nothing but a repaint of Spawn 6 (standing on left of pic) but closer inspection would reveal otherwise.

Spawn i095 is painted a brighter shade of red, has articulation on his waist, the body is arched and the chains are metallic. And McFarlane Toys preempt the possibility of him carrying Spawn 6v1’s weapon by ensuring that his right fist is clenched.

October 2007 Retail Exclusive: Weapons of Mass Destruction
Spawn i095 is duplicated in a 3-Pack titled Weapons of Mass Destruction, a catchy phase originating in 1937 but made famous during the Iraq War. Why Spawn i095 as part of this collection? I mean, unlike the other two figures in the 3-Pack: Spawn i007 and Spawn i131 with their heavy arsenal of weapons, Spawn i095 absolutely makes little sense at all. Well, the answer is substitution, he was a replacement for Spawn 4.

November 2005 Supersize Series 5: Spawn i95
The Supersize Edition 5 released in November 2005 features the supersized version of Spawn i095. Picture on right shows him to scale against a regular-sized prototype figure. Card image from spawntoys.
