SPAWN THE BLACK HEARTAfter the successful Spawn the Black Knight in Series 11, another Medieval Spawn (not the original nameless Medieval Spawn) was released in Series 14 - a rather limpy and unsteady Spawn the Black Heart in August 1999. In total, two were made.
This Black Heart Spawn is described as the MAIN character and Mandarin Spawn is termed as "also in the assortment"...an afterthought! (End Cap July 1999)
August 1999 Series 14 Original: Spawn the Black Heart
Packaged in two different size bubbles and thus regarded as two variants! Not for me, thank you. This little guy, a huge disappointment after the marvellous Black Knight Spawn has four arms, helping him to carry all those unwieldy weapons.
November 1999 Series 14 Repaint: Spawn the Black Heart
Repaint has minor tweaks - the pectoral muscles are red instead of grey, the M stripe is white instead of red and it comes with a white cape instead of red. The pads on the arms and legs are turned brown. This particular figure sold rather well in the resale market due to its scarcity.
The date of release is a bit of a puzzle. Some thought it is November 1999 but End Cap December 1999 mentioned that it is either December 1999 or even later.
