There are two editions of Cyber Spawn. Cyber Spawn 1 consists of three separate versions while Cyber Spawn 2 has to date only one version.
CYBER SPAWN 1
Series 15 October 1999 is the launch of the Techno lineup featuring a Cyber Spawn. To date there are three official versions of Cyber Spawn.
October 1999 Series 15 Original: Cyber Spawn
Based on percentages sold, spawncollectorsguide.com in April 2003 declared this figure as one of the most popular among buyers.
That this is a Spawn is never in doubt, not with those huge external "M" that protrude so prominently. Interestingly enough, the facial sculpt seems to be overshadowed by the claws and legs, especially the legs.
With feets like that, you would think that they are very stable, not the red legs of the repaint version though.
Variants
To collectors, there are apparently two different colours to the "M" - grey and silver, honestly it is pretty difficult to distinguish, so be careful when buying online.
January 2000 Series 15 Repaint: Cyber Spawn
The repaint of Cyber Spawn in red was released in January 2000.
And because repaints are always produced in smaller quantities, this very popular figure is still very much in demand.
What I like about McFarlane Toys is their attention to detail, including that of the back of the figure.
June 2004 Reborn Series 2: Cyber Spawn
The third version was 'reborn' in June 2004.
Rather nicely done actually, rare for a reborn figure.
CYBER SPAWN 2
This is the only version so far.
October 2005 Series 28 Original: Cyber Spawn 2
Released under Series 28: Regenerated, a new interpretation of Cyber Spawn.
The legs now got wheels and he looks distinctly rounder in his cheeks as compared to that of Cyber Spawn 1.
His right claw is more compact and less elongated
and the tail is gone
all in all, a very decent regeneration of Cyber Spawn but I would still say, thumbs up for the previous edition.
