INTERLINK SPAWN

Spawn is acknowledged widely as the building blocks upon which the modern toy industry takes as a model. As such, it only seems right that McFarlane Toys should bravely venture into something new (or something re-inspired) by creating a huge mega-Spawn robot, a transformer lookalike in its 2nd-all spawn lineup.

March 2001 Series 18
This 18th line of Spawn released in March 2001 features six individual figures that can be built into one massive mother of all action figures: Spawn Interlink-6 or IL6 standing at 16” tall. Each "robot (has) a distinct look. They all feature special elements and weapons, along with a zombie-style attitude" - advertisement found in Spawn the Dark Ages issue #23 February 2001 -

For card collectors, there are 7 versions. For display collectors, there are 8 figures. The additional figure is the 16" interlinked figure composed of 6 individual figures, in other words, you have to buy two sets of Series 18.

The second Spawn in this line is Interlink Spawn TS2.

TS is an abbreviation for Torso, in other words, this guy forms the body of Interlink-6. As a robot, it is the most massive of the bunch. It fires a missile from the left arm.

The 2-UP head of TS2. For a comparison of size, just check the photo above. The 2-UP head is placed next to the figure.

Next up is Interlink Spawn RL3 - the only Interlink Spawn with two versions.

June 2004 Reborn Series 2: Interlink Spawn

In June 2004, under the all-Spawn lineup of Reborn Series 2 was this figure titled “Interlink Spawn”. It is of course a repaint of the original Interlink Spawn RL3. It led to speculation that other Interlink Spawns such as Spawn HD1 etc would soon receive a similar repaint in subsequent reborn series and soon, collectors would be able to join them up into a Interlink-6 Spawn repaint! Alas, that did not come to fruition as a new collection titled “McFarlane’s Cyber Units” was introduced instead.

INTERLINK SPAWN IL6
Put them up together and viola, the largest Spawn ever. The figure was originally displayed as six separate figures but two years on in a “dark and stormy” November night (think Midnight and November Rain) while I was very engrossed with a delightful book titled “East of Eden”, my partner was suddenly seized with a desire to put it up. In a marathon session lasting more than 2 hours, with copious amount of coffee and instructions from spawn.com, it reached its majestic superstructure height of 16”.
