January 2001 Series 17 Repaint: Spawn V
Marketed as R3 - Repaint Resculpt Revisit…Reborn, Repeat, Re-introduced, whatever…Spawn V retains its matt paint-finish but flexed leg is now extended. This figure marks a transition phase in McFarlane Toys - where the chains once again revert to that of plastic, resulting in metal and plastic versions of this figure, am not sure which is the unintended variation. This Repaint Series is still very much in demand.
January 2001 Series 17 Repaint: Medieval Spawn II
The repaint comes only in the specialty market edition of 'bloody', it has grey/silver cape with golder shoulder armour.
January 2001 Series 17 Repaint: Al Simmons II
Change of clothings - urban camouflage instead of jungle fatigue
SPAWN SERIES 18
The second all-Spawn release; this transformer-inspired Series 18 features robotic Spawns with the name of HD1, TS2, RL3, LL4, RA5 and LA6. Together the six would form into a gigantic Interlink-6 Spawn.
March 2001 Series 18 Original: Spawn HD1
March 2001 Series 18 Original: Spawn TS2
March 2001 Series 18 Original: Spawn RL3
This is the only interlink spawn to receive a repaint, see Reborn Series 2 of June 2004.
March 2001 Series 18 Original: Spawn LL4
March 2001 Series 18 Original: Spawn RA5
March 2001 Series 18 Original: Spawn LA6
July 2001 Series 19 Original: Samurai Spawn
This lonely Spawn can be found in Series 19: Dark Ages III aka the Samurai Wars…with Samurai carrying a non-Samurai sword…but why quibbles, Mandarin Spawn didn’t carry a Chinese sword either…or are we supposed to change them ourselves?
October 2001 Series 20 Original: Spawn VI
The Series 20 has two versions of each Spawn – and not just masked and without but with different accessories. The former, with a huge weapon is a very popular collectible.
October 2001: Series 20 Variant: Spawn VI
The display image is mine while the card image is from Jin119kg's Collection. The unmasked version of Spawn VI is based on the interior art of issue #100.
October 2001: Series 20 Original: Medieval Spawn III
As with the earlier Medieval Spawn II, Medieval Spawn III also spots two versions – the first has a clean axe and is thus the mass market edition. Card image is mine while card image again from Jin119kg's Collection.
October 2001: Series 20 Variant: Medieval Spawn III
The second, the specialty market edition has red paints on the axe! Remove the axe and you would not be able to distinguish version.1 from version.2. This is incidentally the last of Medieval Spawn's figure in McFarlane Toys.
November 2001 Series 12 Diamond Exclusive Repaint: Spawn IV
Diamond, who re-appeared after a long hiatus from Spawn decided to issue Series 12 as an Exclusive Repaint. Because they are a Diamond exclusive item, they are found only at comic and hobby shops serviced by the Diamond distribution network. Display image is mine but card image is courtesy of Jin 119kg's Collection. Spawn IV sports a grey-green armour theme as opposed to the original red-green version.
November 2001 Series 12 Diamond Exclusive Repaint: Re-Animated Spawn
Re-Animated Spawn repainted with a new colour theme of blue and green. Display image is mine but card image belongs to Jin119kg's Collection.
November 2001 MTCC Exclusive: Series 19 Accessory Pack
To beautify the dour looking Samurai Spawn and other of its ilk, MTCC released an accessory pack.
